I just came back from a winter away in south east asia. I spent a month in thailand, cambodia, vietnam and myanmar each, and my time with Zaw on the Kalaw trek was one of, if not THE highlight of my entire trip. Firstly, Zaw is a fantastic, compassionate, charming, funny and incredibly articulate guide. His english is phenomenal and he loves his country. My group came away from the trek feeling like we were leaving a friend behind (heartbreak). The area around Kalaw is beautiful, the terrain is varied, and everyone we met along the way was kind and friendly. Our homestays were charming, the food was delicious, and the villages did not feel like they were altered to look a certain way for tourists. I would without a doubt recommend the 3 day trek with Zaw to anyone visiting Myanmar. Don’t miss the opportunity to see the countryside in this unique and unfiltered way.
